Tesla P100D Ludicrous Plus – How Fast Can It Possibly Be Drag Racing?
The Tesla Racing Channel has quietly become a leading source of Tesla performance information, taking every opportunity to head to the track and lay the smack down on basically every street car they line up beside.
It’s become obvious to get any real challenge, TRC has to face off with purpose-built drag cars, since no street car can give them a decent run. On this trip, the goal isn’t necessarily winning races as much as it is getting the quickest ET possible out of the P110D. Having started in the 7.40’s last year in the P85D, our driver puts the P100D through its paces and lays down a best ET of 6.68 at over 100 MPH. That’s well over a half second quicker through the eighth mile, which is absolutely ridiculous to imagine any car picking up from one factory year-model production run to the next.
As always, TRC uses a host of GoPro cameras to get several angles of their all-electric hotrod in action, so the footage is excellent. It’s crazy to see a factory-stock car running head to head with a nitrous assisted big block Chevy-swapped Mustang and taking the loss by just a car length or so, proving Tesla is really doing something special with their cars!
