If you talk about cars that are really unexpected and managed to pack quite a heavy punch without such an appearance, look no further than pretty much every car that Tesla has made. Before these things started making their way to streets and strips across the country and getting themselves tangled up in drag racing situations, there probably wasn’t too many people who thought that an electric car would be a heavy hitter when it comes time to take on some of the biggest names in the game. However, reality hit hard for people who were getting knocked down by the electric cars, even those with purpose-built racing machines seem to have trouble hanging with them sometimes.

Now, it does seem like the Tesla has more of an advantage on the street than it does on the drag strip, thanks to constant torque from the electric motor and an all-wheel-drive setup that would probably stick the tires to wet mud, however, this time, we see exactly how one of these machines will do as it makes its way to the strip to face a whole plethora of cars that are known for their performance heritage. Lining up next to the Tesla, we have not only a brand-new Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 but also second-generation Cadillac CTS-V and even a Buick Grand National, three cars that are really meant to be strong competition.
If you follow along with the BigKleib34 video down below, you’ll see exactly how the Tesla does up against a variety of cars that many would think would be a shoe in for a victory over the electric competition. However, as you might be able to speculate, things aren’t going to exactly go that easily for these combustion powered machines.
