The Airbus A350 XWB water ingestion test for jet engines!

When you’re putting in airplane into the sky and you hold the precious lives of many people in your hands, it’s rather important to get everything just right with a craft like this one before the plane ever sees its first flight. Any mishap could prove to be incredibly fatal.

In order to discover all of the potential pitfalls of a design, engineers are left to put the planes through a rigorous series of tasks to see exactly where they need to be improved upon before hitting the skies. As you can imagine, some of these tasks are more interesting to watch than others.

In this demonstration, we ride along with the Airbus A350 XWB to dive into its ability to operate on wet runways. It’s all done in a test known as the water ingestion test that lays down 22 mm of water to be sucked up by the engines to see if any adverse consequences will come about.

Check out the video below that shows off the rather dramatic tests as this monster of an airplane heads out to the tarmac to see how deal with the good amount of water. Will the plane stand up to all of those pounds of liquid? Find out for yourself below.
