The Best Job in the Marines? Watch UH-1Y Venom Helicopter Crew Unleash Hell!
This looks like a fun way to spend a day, if only there was zero chance of being shot back at. Since this is our military, however, that would typically be a very real possibility and that would take the fun out of it for sure. However, these are training exercises that take place in California at the Chocolate Mountain Aerial Gunnery Range.
Our boys are working out of UH-1Y Venom choppers and firing lead at a high rate of speed at target on the ground to help learn how to counteract the motion of the chopper and take into account the distances involved so when it comes time to engage the enemy in a real combat scenario, they can’t fire with accuracy.
This would definitely be an exercise we would love to participate in, as long as there’s no possibility of the targets firing back. Since our headquarters are in Southern California, maybe we can get up close and personal with these guys!
