The Guaranteed Way to Infuriate any Porsche Lover
When you take a look across the landscape of motorsports today, it really seems like pulling a late model Chevrolet V8 engine out of whatever vehicle it comes with and plopping it in just about anything – is the thing to do. You can’t really blame people for going this route because the engine seems to make very consistent and reliable power, lots of power, all while keeping the costs relatively cheap. Many will argue that it is dollar for dollar the best way to go fast.
Even though the setup some might be effective most of the time, there also is the other side of the coin where certain enthusiasts will be perturbed at the idea of putting a Chevy motor in anything aside from a Chevy. Basically, what we’re getting at here, is that if you showed this Porsche off to any Porsche aficionado, there’s a good chance that it might make their eyes roll into the back of their head when they find out what’s hiding out under the bonnet of this car.
We’re completely loving every second of the swap as the owner pulled a 6L LQ9 out of a Cadillac Escalade and plopped it into the engine bay of this machine. With a set of heads, a someone aggressive camshaft, and an intake to get the air flowing nicely, this car is able to rip off a couple of impressive passes in the low 8s in the eighth mile. When a 100 shot of nitrous is plopped into the mix, things get even more interesting as the car is pushed into the sevens.
The 1320Video feature below will take you on a tour of this Porsche and show you what it’s all about as the owner explains how exactly he managed to shoehorn the big V8 into place. After you get a look at it and see how it runs, be sure to tell us what you think of swaps like these. Is putting a Chevrolet engine in a Porsche blasphemy or is it just the right dose that this car needed of go-fast parts?
