The Shadow (Foxbody) vs Birdman (3rd Gen Camaro) – One Hell Of a Race!
If you’ve been on or anywhere near just about any form of social media over the past week, you’ve likely heard about the back-and-forth call outs between small tire legend and smack talk king Steve “Stevie Fast” Jackson and big tire headhunter Gary “Birdman” Finney. We won’t even deny this is a race we would all love to see, but many don’t realize the two have actually met before.
All the way back in 2013, when Street Outlaws was in its infancy, Birdman was already a well-established badass in his flamed twin-turbo third gen Camaro. Before his legend would grow to epic proportions on the show as the unicorn that hasn’t been beaten outright by anybody on the show, Finney made the trek from Texas to Orlando, where he would run into the Honey Badger himself, Stevie Fast.
At the time, Stevie had stepped away from small tire racing and was absolutely wrecking the grudge game in the southeast with his impossibly-quick Shadow Mustang, the same car that he would later take flight in at SGMP. When Birdman came calling, the Shadow was still in its nitrous-injected configuration and was known for going a-to-b very quickly approximately 103% of the time Jackson turned loose of the transbrake.

The baddest RvW cars in the world battle it out for $101,000.00.
Legendary grudge video shooter MrBetLive was on hand at Orlando Speed World to capture all the action, showing each car’s burnouts, shakedown passes, and finally the heads-up race between the two. Everybody knew if both cars made full passes it would be a great race, but I don’t think anybody on the property expected it to be this close. Stevie’s flame-throwing ‘Stang jumped out to about a car-length lead, but Finney’s boosted Camaro began to build a head of steam and looked to be en route to reeling Stevie in, but he ran out of real estate with Jackson taking the win by what looks from this video to be about a fender.
It remains to be seen if these two will ever face off again, but you can count on the hype being huge if they ever do get on the same page and agree to race again.
