The Supermax Chevrolet Silverado is One Nasty Truck!
It’s hardly unusual for me to write about a ride that I would love to own someday. Honestly, it happens just about every single day, which shouldn’t really be surprising considering the amount of time we spend talking about Lamborghinis, Ferraris, and McLarens, and let’s not forget the Hellcats. However, most of those rides, with the exception of perhaps picking up a used Hellcat Charger, are little more than pipe dreams for a guy like me.
This pickup, however, is something that I would love to own and may actually be able to afford! There’s a lot of work to make a project like this come to life, but the truly custom nature of this beast is exactly what makes it so appealing to me. Truck Tech wanted a Duramax-powered single cab short bed Silverado, but GM doesn’t make such a truck – because they obviously don’t pay attention to what their customers want – so the Truck Tech guys did what anybody would do and made their own. They took to the frame with a saw and shortened it by fourteen inches, making it the exact perfect length for a short box.
Of course, the changes didn’t end there. Wanting to make the truck truly stand out, they bolted on a set of aftermarket wheels, a custom hood, and slathered it all in look-at-me orange paint with dark grey accents. Screamin’ Diesel Performance sent over a turbo kit that had been powder coated orange to go with the theme of the exterior and with that bolted into place, the truck is good for more-than-respectable 553 horsepower and nearly 1,000 ft/lbs of torque without really leaning on the stock bottom end Duramax.
That’s more than enough power to do whatever anybody may need their truck to do, while also pushing the ride deep into the 8-second zone in the 1/8th mile at 85 MPH. All around, this is an insanely cool daily driver that I would love to have in my garage!
