The Top 10 Fastest Pikes Peak Hill Climb Runs Tend to Put Viewers on Edge
For all intents and purposes, the Pikes Peak Hill Climb takes place on a road that we think most drivers would probably take on cautiously. Not only would they not be rocketing their way up at full throttle but most would probably also take on a tame approach in terms of normal driving.
Perhaps, this is exactly what makes the climb as impressive as it is. In addition to providing a variety of different obstacles for drivers to be able to carve their way in and out of, the climb has a pretty big threat for those who don’t tackle it properly.
The course that takes place over 12.42 miles climbs an altitude of 4,720 feet. In other words, not only are drivers making their way through over 12 miles of track but they’re almost climbing vertically by almost a mile as well.
Naturally, with such a climb, there are plenty of areas where they might end up facing a substantial fall. Because of this, a handful of deaths have occurred when drivers have gone over the edge. Others have managed to survive the fall but it’s still a pretty terrifying proposition.
Regardless of risk, some drivers just want to push the limits. Because of this, we have seen record attempt after record attempt. When all of the chips end up falling, though, there are ten drivers who can lay claim to being the fastest to have ever done it. This is certainly a feat that involves just a little bit of craziness along with a lot of driving ability. One false move and things could go very wrong.
Down in the video below, we get the opportunity to check in with the top 10 fastest climbers to ever make their way to the finish line. If all of the above isn’t crazy enough for you, the person who ended up with the fastest climb did so at an average speed of over 93 mph.
Just watching these videos can really make us pucker up a little bit, hoping for the best for all involved.
