These guys build a full blown miniature V8 engine!
Take a very in-depth look at this workshop, where Conley miniature V8 engines are built, and you’re sure to be enthralled by the level of detail that goes into these tiny motors. While there are many engines available, the Stinger 609 is the centerpiece of the video. The Stinger, which boasts 6.09 cubic inches and weighs 11 pounds, is hand-assembled one at a time and sells for a price of $8,200. In this tour, you can get a great look at some of the components, such as the crankshaft, the block, and the incredibly detailed cylinder head design. The heads even feature large oval intake ports and “D” shaped exhaust ports like you would find on a full-sized V8 engine.
These miniature engines are destined for an assortment of uses. They could be used in radio controlled cars and trucks, boats, and even airplanes if so desired. They feature a full ignition system, a crazy dry-sump oiling system, and even an integrated starter than can be configured to work from a button on a radio. While the price is certainly on par with a full-sized engine, the level of detail and craftsmanship that goes into each one ensures each buyer is getting a truly badass little engine.
And apparently there are plenty of buyers, as the website that sells Stinger currently has a 2-plus waiting list to pick up one of these intricate powerplants!
