This Driving Simulator Costs $12,000 a Day

When it comes to professional racing, there are obscene amounts of money on the line and when teams prepare to go to war on race day, the value of the prize is reflected in their preparation. Not only will teams spend lots of time to get ready but also, copious amounts of money.

This time, we ride along with The Drive as they make their way to Dallara Automobili, a facility housing some pretty expensive equipment that is designed to help teams get ready for race day and this is some serious stuff. These guys don’t take the preparation process lightly whatsoever.

Behind a door marked “Restricted Area,” we’re given a look at a machine that costs $12,000 a day for use and is engineered to replicate any racecar and any race track that you could imagine. It can be tuned like any car and reacts exactly like the car would with machinery that duplicates the g-forces.

Check out the video below as the first ever journalists to ever see the simulator take it for a spin to see what all of the hype is about. If you can’t actually make it out to the track behind the wheel of such a car, this is about as close as you’re going to get!
