This Guy Lived Out of a Storage Locker For 2 Months! Badass Setup!
While it’s not allowed by the rules of these facilities, this is not the first time we’ve heard of somebody moving into a self-storage unit. It is, however, one of the most well-thought out setups that we have ever seen, and actually looks reasonably comfortable given the physical dimensions of the space itself and the amount of stuff this guy has moved into the unit.
The whole thing would be impossible without power running to the unit, so that’s the first topic of discussion. The solution is simple, but effective, though it does seem like it would draw attention to the unit eventually. He simply zip tied an extension cord form down the corridor and ran it along the conduit to his unit. Once we reach the unit itself, he addresses the door and lock situation, then we move inside and take a look at how things work if you want to live inside a storage unit. There’s a full sized bed, a couch, a small kitchen area, and even a television. Everything is packed in tightly, of course, but doesn’t seem to be overly cramped thanks to his use of vertical space as well as the floor space. Moving things upward certainly, gives you a lot more room when trying to arrange things efficiently.
We get a good look at his sink system, which is an elegantly simple setup using two water jugs and a small plastic basin. You simply open the valve on the top jug and let the water run down the tube into the basin, which serves as a sink. From there, the water drains into the other jug.
All in all, this is a great temporary solution, if you can pull it off. It is against the rules and will end in you being tossed on the street with your stuff if you get caught, so it’s not the best place to be if you come and go a lot. However, if you need something in a pinch, this just might be the best thing for you!
