This Lady Has Been Driving the same car for Well Over 50+ years
These days, it seems like a lot of people have become accustomed to living a wasteful lifestyle, going through everything from phones to clothes to the car that they drive in just a matter of years if not less. I guess if you have the ability to do that comfortably then more power to you but Grace Braeger most certainly doesn’t live that lifestyle herself.
Instead of getting a new car every couple of years like most folks, Grace has taken a much simpler approach to picking out what car she’s driving by only purchasing one vehicle over the span of the last 53 years of her life since this video was uploaded. As many of us have yet to reach the age of 53, that’s really tough to imagine!
Back in the day, Grace wheeled her way on to the lot in late 1957, right when the 1958 models were coming out and decided to pick herself up a 1957 Chevrolet, a demo car that would be her pride and joy that she would maintain for years upon years, putting just 116,000 miles on the car (That’s just over 2,000 miles each year!) that she’s spent a grand total of $2,250 on. Finding any car for that price is a hassle these days, let alone a brand new one.
In the video below, Grace tells us more about her car, why she loves it so much, and why she attributes her growing up in the Great Depression to be the reason that the car has been a part of her life for so long and how it’s been maintained so meticulously. When you divide it all out, being able to drive this car for just around $3.50 per month since ownership, it really doesn’t seem like that bad of a deal at all, especially for a stylish ride like this one!
