This Year’s Oscars Gift Bag Includes Hammers to Smash Out Car Windows
Every year at the Oscars, many top nominees end up going home with a swag bag that is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars. As if some of the highest-paid actors in all of Hollywood really needed more free stuff, these bags seem to serve an audience that likely couldn’t care less. Instead, the act that always draws headlines (here we are!) is seen more as an opportunity for marketing than anything else but I digress.
This year, the goody bags are said to be worth $200,000 or so. Some of the most talked-about items from this year’s bag include resort vacations and in NFT dedicated to the late Chadwick Boseman who has posthumously been nominated for best actor.
However, one item on the list seems to be out of place as it’s designed to break windows. So what does this sort of item have to anything to do with celebrities and the Oscars?
As it turns out, the hammer seems to be a promotional item for PETA who wants to get the word out about a good cause.
If there’s one thing that we definitely can’t stand, it’s somebody who leaves their dog in a hot car. Seriously, what are you doing!?
We have lots of words about these people that wouldn’t be appropriate to spell out here but I think that plenty of us have an equal level of disdain for these irresponsible pet owners.
In order to attempt to help people learn what to do in situations where they might find an animal trapped in a hot car, these small Hammers designed to smash car windows will be included in the gift bag.
Sure, the fact that these ultra-rich celebrities are getting gift bags might be a little bit laughable. However, if the concept can be used to spread the word about a good cause, I guess that it might not be so ridiculous after all.
If you want to buy your own hammer, PETA sells them here.
