Tire Tractionizing Explained… Making Driving in Snow Safer!
When it comes to getting traction, it’s a lot more complicated than you might think. There is no set-in-stone way that you’re going to be able to hook up with whatever surface that it is you are trying to drive on. No matter what kind of racing or aggressive driving you’re going to do, there’s probably a series of steps that you’re going to want to go through to get to a place that might be near ideal, though. This time, we cut into a method, quite literally, that is designed to help you get a little bit more traction if racing on snow and ice is your forte.
In this video, we get a chance take a peek in on a process that’s known as “Tractionizing.” Basically, what it does is, thanks to a small machine fitted with sharp studs, your tires are essentially roughed up a little bit as they drive along some spikes at 10 or 20 mph while the car is in a fixed position.
Something like this might look to be a little bit counterintuitive but, when you think about it, this provides more places to displace all of the snow and ice as it tries to make your tire slip while under a load. While, on a clean and dry surface, you might want to get as much of a contact patch as possible to grab traction, a surface like this is one where you want to get as much of that slippery material as possible out of the way and this process can definitely get you there.
