The Best Female Racers of All Time
2. Sabine Schmitz
Sabine “Queen of the Ring” Schmitz is arguably one of the most talented drivers of all time which is why she gets the number 2 spot. When drivers and cars want to test their speed, they go the most technical track in the world: Nurburgring aka the “Green Hell”. Growing up in Germany, Sabine became obsessed with Nurburgring from a young age and spent day after day driving, memorizing and pushing her limits through every turn. People started to notice her talent and before long she was racing professionally and schooling men from all over the world about how to keep your foot flat through a turn.
To prove that Sabine is not just a fast driver but a fierce racer, she took back to back wins at the 24HR Nurburgring endurance race in 1996 and 1997 against some of the best racers in the world.
Sabine’s racing career highlights listed here:
- 1st 24HR Nurburgring in 1996
- 1st 24HR Nurburgring in 1997
- 3rd 24HR Nurburgring in 2008
- 2nd 24HR Nurburgring in 2009
- 2nd VLN Endurance Race in 2014
Sabine is also a “Ring Taxi” for BMW as well as one of the new hosts of Top Gear. With any hope, we will see her racing across our screens for years to come.
