Trooper Rips Up Ticket After Driver’s Kind Gesture
There’s no denying the past few years have been trying times here in America, a country that many feel is losing its grip on the claim of the “Greatest Nation on Earth”. However, I have said, and still maintain, that while things are certainly not as good as they were a decade ago and before, a lot of the reason things seem so bad, and much worse than they really are, is because all we ever see is the bad.
From news broadcasts on a local and national level to basically everything posted on social media by both news outlets and individuals, we are hammered constantly with a barrage of bad news. As disheartening as it is, this doesn’t mean each of us has to resign to accepting the negative as the norm. There is plenty of positivity out there, you just have to know where to look for it. More importantly, you can CREATE IT yourself.
I think we’ve all heard the adage “Be the change you want to see in the world,” and that’s exactly the advice I’d give everybody reading this. This motorist is a perfect example of the kind of small gesture that can make a huge positive difference in somebody’s day. By simply acknowledging the dangers faced by the officer who’d pulled him over for speeding and offering him a small token of appreciation to hopefully bring him continued protection, this guy made a difference. Strangely enough, not only did he make a difference in the Trooper’s day, he brightened his own day when the officer decided to void the ticket and let the motorist off the hook. A simple gesture and a gift that meant much more than it cost resulted in two individuals having a better day than either of them were having before their paths crossed.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking… I don’t recommend anybody go out and stock up on bracelets to give to officers when they pull you over, because if you do it for the wrong reason, there’s zero percent chance of it working out like it did in this video. Just BE genuine, be good, and be kind. Those things alone will bring you more happiness than anything else you can do by putting good out into the world.
