Turbocharged Honda Civic Makes The Greatest Comeback Win Of The Year!

If there’s one thing that we have noticed about drag racing, it’s that you definitely have to stay in it to win it. This is especially true with the high caliber of cars that we caught racing this past weekend at the Import versus Domestic World Cup Finals out at Maryland International Raceway. As machines would make their way down the track, you never know what’s going to happen during the course of a race, especially when it only lasts a couple of seconds. Perhaps, with one slight slip up from the other driver, it could be your opportunity to shoot by them at the last possible second and take a victory for yourself.

In this one, it doesn’t look like there’s necessarily a slipup involved but instead just a very good pairing that takes a turbocharged Honda Civic and puts it up against a turbocharged Terminator Cobra. Off of the line, all things would appear to be heading in the direction of the domestic victory, however, the Honda in question here had something to say about that as the driver, even after getting off to a little bit of a slow short track, simply kept on rolling through those gears and attempts to track down the screaming Ford Mustang.

When you take a look at comparisons like this within a class designed for close races, it usually is the rear wheel drive car that will make its way off of the line faster than the front wheel drive car, however, at the top end of the race track, you have to keep a close eye on the competition because this is where the front wheel drive machines really start to catch up and eventually freight train their way through the finish line of the quarter-mile. This is why you will see similar times but trap speeds heavily favoring front wheel drive cars.

If you follow along in the video below, you’ll be able to catch the scene as all things look like they were going in the direction of the Cobra but suddenly, the Honda makes an incredible comeback for the win!
