Walk 1000ft with Our Very Own Leah Pritchett
Early in the 2017 season, Team Speed Society Racing pilot Leah Pritchett took a little walk down the Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park track with Amanda Busick, Fox Sports’ NHRA reporter for a segment known as “Walk 1,000 Feet”, where Amanda rapid-fires questions at LP while they walk the track surface. These segments have become a fan favorite because while some of the questions are racing related, some of them offer fans a look at the driver’s personality and life away from the track. However, no surprisingly to those who know Leah, she flips the questions that aren’t necessarily racing related back to the track somehow.
Of course, anybody who has spent any time with Pritchett knows even when she’s miles away from the track, she’s focused on her car, her team and her next race or event. That competitive spirit, along with her badass crew and Papa Johns dragster, is what pushed her to lead the points for most of the season in 2017. She started the season with a string of three wins in the first five races and would parlay that blazing start into a spot in the Countdown for the Championship. However, Pritchett and company hit a rough patch in the final few races, though they still ended the season with a solid fifth place finish in the points.
However, that’s not enough for LP and her team, who are hungry and eager to get back on the track for 2018 and try to find more consistency. They proved more than once in 2017 that they have the power to throw down big numbers, setting and resetting the national record in Phoenix and Brainerd. However, they struggled to go rounds in the heat, and with most of the season being in the summer, that’s an area the team is hyper-focused on for the upcoming campaign.
Papa Johns is back on board for the 2018 season, and Pennzoil and Dodge will also have a few races with Leah flying their colors on her DSR Racing hotrod. Look for big things this season from one of the most dynamic personalities in the sport, who also happens to be one of the most driven.
