Warning: Doing this to Your Jack is a Bad Idea!
If you’re using some sort of jack to lift your vehicle into the air, practicing the correct safety measures is an important task because you want something to be there to catch the weight of the vehicle should a malfunction happen to occur. You don’t want the weight of a car falling on you, after all.
To combat the potential for a jack to fail, normally, you would put a jack stand in place, but this time, we check out a little demonstration that takes a shot at this method of protection to see if even that would be enough to save you from a faulty Jack. What happens if the car drops down on the stand and it can’t hold the weight?
Follow along down in the video below as an experiment is carried out to see exactly where the fail points are in a jack stand and if you should truly be able to trust one with your life as you wrench on a heavy car or truck that could come crashing down on you at any moment. Will you ever look at jack stands the same way again after watching this video?
