Watching Burnouts Through a Thermal Camera is Quite Mesmerizing
If you’re looking for an explanation of anything automotive, heading over to the guys at Engineering Explained is probably a good bet. Not only does the host seem to have his stuff together and lay out thorough yet simple explanations of how lots of concepts work around your car but it looks like the channel has recently procured a thermal imaging camera that makes some interesting videos come to life.
Now, if you were a car freak with access to such technology, what would you do? Well, I think that for most of us, one of the first things that we would try would be heading out to the streets to rip a mind blowing burnout to see what kind of heat shows up on the camera when you’re out there beating your tires to shreds.
In this one, that’s exactly what we get as we watch the channel’s Honda S2000 killing off a set of tires in the name of picking up a new, more aggressive set and making a sweet video to see exactly how the temperature of the rubber and other components like the brake rotors changes with maximum abuse.
Check out the video down below that will show you exactly how the heat elevates in this scenario. In addition, we’re able to get an interesting breakdown from an engineering standpoint that tells you exactly why the processes are happening the way that they are. If you had access to a camera like this, what else would you try to do with it?
