What The Pinnacle Of Luxury Looked Like In The 80s

There are a lot of industries out there that really evolve quickly. One moment, we might find ourselves purchasing something new. It’s technologically irrelevant the next. This might not bother some people but to others, they have to have the latest thing. After all, one look at how often they released the iPhone and how quickly everyone eats it up can tell that story. In the world of automobiles, it’s certainly no different. It seems like there is a major update in pretty much every vehicle segment year after year.

By that same logic, it only follows that something from the late 80s would probably be incredibly outdated. However, there is still something to appreciate about a car of a certain time period. While it might not be the most up-to-date version boasting fresh tech that we have today, that historical value is really what makes a car like the 1989 Cadillac Brougham worth taking a look at. It’s pretty neat to see that a vehicle that really isn’t all that old that seems like it’s light-years behind what’s available today. Such an evolution can certainly take twists and turns that we’d never expect.

In this one, we check out a review by none other than Doug DeMuro as he dissects the old Cadillac. The vehicle that came out in the late 80s is what Doug calls a “Pinnacle of luxury” for the time. At that time, this is about the best that money could buy. It’s pretty cool to see some of the features that are equipped in the car that were seen as cutting edge. Some of them really seem to be ahead of their time but others, well, they definitely belong in the 80s. It’s pretty neat how one can watching a designer’s entire thought process unfold when taking a tour of a vehicle like this.
