What To Do and What Not To Do When Launching Your Boat!
Dropping a boat into the water from a public ramp isn’t exactly easy, requiring both haste and precision, as you can quickly find yourself crossed up when trying to back in, or watching your boat float out toward the open water without you if you try to go too fast, or you’ll draw the ire of those around you if you take too long on the ramp.
Your best bet is to NOT be the guys named in this video! The key is preparing as much as you can before taking your spot in line to drop your boat. The gentleman featured in the video had the foresight to get to the ramp on an off-peak day where there isn’t too much traffic, which is good considering he took nearly six times the unwritten expectation of five minutes to complete the task.
Go ahead and fill up the cooler and run through your checklist at home before tying up the ramp for half the afternoon and hopefully you won’t be catching the evil eye from your fellow boaters!
