What You Actually Get When you Buy Speakers from a White Van
A day or two ago, we posted up a little article in which a man who happened to be an audiophile, or a person who is especially interested in how audio equipment functions, was approached by a couple of men in a vehicle who were trying to sell him speakers that they wanted to pass off as extra merchandise or an overstock of some sort. In reality, pretty much 9.9 times out of 10, in a situation like this, you’re going to be buying junk speakers or speakers that don’t function at all and instead, are just housings.
This time, we catch up with somebody who actually did purchase speakers from such a scam to prove a point and when he got home, he cracked into them to see what was inside. We have all heard the stories of speakers being filled with sand so that people will feel their weight and think that because they’re heavier, it’s probably better audio equipment. However, it really leaves you to wonder just how true stories like these really are. Do these guys really go to the lengths to fill these speakers with weight to try and rip someone off? This time, we know for sure.
As we follow along with the demonstration that cracks open the speakers, we find that they aren’t filled with sand, but instead, with concrete. I guess these guys are really beginning to step up their game. On top of that, different components within the speakers that would appear to be some sort of fake tweeter aren’t even wired to anything at all! It’s pretty insane that people go through these kinds of lengths to rip others off instead of just trying to go out there and earn their buck the good old-fashioned way. However, on the other hand, if you fall for a trick like this that ia about the oldest in the book, well, you just might’ve had it coming.
