When You Shoehorn a TT V8 into a Light Import, Things Get Serious
If you just so happen to be a fan of the LS engine and are looking for a place where other people are just as crazy about the application as you, then heading out to Holley’s LS Fest might just be the cure that you need to get your fill. This time, we head out to just that event to check out just that platform as someone has taken a Nissan 300ZX, ditched the original power plant, and shoehorned an LS under the hood along with a pair of turbos that really crank the thing up to the next level. Long story short, it’s a ton of fun to watch in action.
The owner of the vehicle tells us that he had some issues keeping transmissions behind his former engine so he decided to go with the tried-and-true after wrenching on his other LS powered vehicles and seeing how reliable and effective they are when it comes to this kind of application. When this car got some V8 power behind it and a stout transmission along with those turbos, my oh my, did she perform out on the track. Even after being told that they’re still trying to work all of the kinks out of the setup, this thing really managed to get out there and go above and beyond.
Follow along down below with the BigKleib34 video that takes you on the scene in Bowling Green, Kentucky to watch as this mighty Nissan with a new heart finds its way down the track in the single-digit range. If it’s running this good now, just imagine how fast it will be when they find a way to work out all of those little lingering bugs that they haven’t managed to find because of the relatively new nature of the combination.
