Who Really Owns the Car? Tesla Disabling Features without Telling Owners
When Tesla came out as an automotive manufacturer and tossed their hat into the ring of cutting edge electric cars, they seemed to be a cut above the rest. Across the board, it really seems like the brand really had their stuff together not only with the products that they put out under their image as being one of the top tier automotive brands that you can possibly buy from, establishing their electric cars as fashion items as much as they were usable and economical solutions for travel.
However, less than a decade after going public on the stock market and releasing a wider variety of cars other than the original Tesla Roadster, which was an incredibly niche market, it seems like that brand image that has remained untarnished has met some rocky seas as people are beginning to dig into the vehicles and problems are starting to arise not only in personal ownership experience but allegedly also in Tesla’s financial backing. As a brand, they seem to be pretty well-respected and we certainly have to say that we hold them in high regard for what they’ve accomplished but they certainly have some things that need straightening out as well.
In this video, we join in on a story that tells the tale of one man who decided to get himself a Tesla that had been lightly damaged. He was able to fix the car in a weekend, doing some minor body panel repairs by himself in his own driveway, however, after bringing the car to the dealership for service, a couple of things would change. Without telling the owner, allegedly, Tesla would turn off the car’s ability to be charged by the public chargers, also known as “superchargers” that you see scattered throughout various areas, leaving the family and their children stranded on a road trip due to the fact that they were depending on the charging devices to make it back hom, only to have to leave their car there and catch a flight to get back.
If you follow along below, you’ll catch the entire story and what exactly they’re doing to remedy the situation. Obviously, there are two sides to every story and we have yet to hear from Tesla, however, if everything said here is true, that’s definitely going to be a tough one for the company’s PR team to handle.
