You Might Have Heard of “Throwing a Rod,” but How About Tossing a Whole Engine Block?

When you building an engine to perform for you, all sorts of heavy duty parts have to come together in order to make the bigger picture a smoothly purring reality. People don’t just go out there, slap any old thing together, and have success in any sort of performance application. In order to have any kind of competitive setup, you’re definitely going to have to make sure that you have your stuff together, making sure that your i’s are dotted and your t’s are crossed with all of the moving parts that you have going on in your engine bay.

While most of the engine failures will revolve around a specific part that just gives under pressure, creating a failure that may or may not be dramatic, this time, we check out a situation that has been escalated quite a few levels to the point where it’s about as dramatic as it gets. No, we aren’t having parts being thrown out of the engine, but instead, it looks like the majority of the engine wants to hop out of the engine bay and make its way to the ground in this tractor pulling competition that simply had this rig being pushed past its limits. I guess that you could say that they really found the weak point on this build.

Somehow, it looks like, while under a load, everything in the engine bay except for the rotating assembly really went out to lunch here. After watching this spectacular display and seeing what was left under the hood, You’re left to wonder exactly what failed in the first place. How the heck do you leave the whole rotating assembly sitting in place while pretty much all the other parts go flying?
