5 Unknown Engines You May Have Never Heard About!
While it seems that engine technology is progressing along a certain and defined lineage, sometimes, engineers go in completely different directions, taking a step off of the beaten path to try out different ideas to make engines tick. Sometimes they work and sometimes, they end up in the pile of failed ideas. This collection might just offer up a little bit of both.
With candidates like the Duke Engine, a 5-stroke engine, and the free piston engine, this list most certainly has some interesting ideology going into the engineering behind these machines and some of them even offer up a host of benefits but in the long run, there is definitely a reason that they aren’t mass-produced.
Some of these things might be more interesting than they are useful and that’s not necessarily a bad thing, either. The concepts involved in making the power plants fire up really gives you a new perspective on exactly how the different technologies involved might work.
Check out the video down below that lays out a list of five engines that you may have never heard of and tell us which of these is the most interesting and caught your eye out of the group. Who knows, maybe with a little bit more work on the designs, traditional engine layouts will be replaced with themes like you see in this video.
