1985 GMC 1500 With A 4.8 LS Turbo.

On the surface, this might just look like another old GMC Sierra (minus the fender exhaust), good for hauling stuff back and forth from the local Home Depot.

However, when we dive into this backyard build, we discover that this GMC is hiding a dirty little secret that puts it a bit beyond its performance roots.

Under the hood it is, or rather was, a 5.3L LS engine, complemented with a GT45 turbo and backed up by a TH400 transmission and Megasquirt II ECU.

The result is a quick ride that might just surprise a couple of people when they hear that turbo whistling away under the hood.

In this one, we are treated to an overall view of the build along with a little bit of romping on the back roads. Unfortunately, this engine didn’t last very long, but now, we understand that it has a different turbo LS under the hood with a 4.8L truck motor!
