World’s largest ship elevator officially opens at Three Gorges Dam in Central China
Sometimes, navigating a water-bound vessel means that the operator will run into their fair share of obstacles along the way. You can only work with what you have at your fingertips, after all.
This time, we check out a pretty neat feat of engineering that helps ship captains to get around one of those obstacles with relative ease.
This construction is known as the world’s largest ship elevator as located at the Three Gorges Dam in Yichang City, central China’s Hubei Province.
The idea here is to increase the shipping capacity that travels through the area by 6,000,000 tons a year and we would say that the elevator is a good start and it’s a ton of fun to look at in action as well!
Check out the video below to get an overall look at this massive structure and how all of the small moving parts come together to work seamlessly.
