Kye Kelley’s Shocker goes down in a wreck across the finish line
When it comes to racing, sometimes there’s not much that you can do to avoid a wreck. They’re ugly but the truth is that they’re always lurking around the corner and ready to strike whenever a car malfunction or a driver has a quick lapse in judgment that sends his or her car off the preferred course.
This time, when the wheel of wrecks spun, it landed right on Kye Kelley and his Shocker Chevrolet Camaro as he blasted down the track at Hub City Dragway for the Dirty South No Prep race against Scott Camus in the finals when he ended up going sideways across the finish line and blasting right into the wall.
Kelley admitted full fault and from the pictures, it doesn’t look like the damage was all that bad as opposed to how it could have turned out with a car accelerating into a sideways spin across the finish line. In other good news, it looks like Kelley is in good spirits moving forward and is ready to get his opponent slaying monster back out on the track again.
A statement by Kelley read, “Well everyone I’m okay, wreck was completely my fault, car did its job and kept me safe , my feelings are hurt pretty bad but the good thing is , it is fixable and it’s not that bad. Chris Cline is gonna get it in and get it fixed , I will be in Shreveport tomorrow meeting the fans that planned to come see me!! Thanks everyone and I’ll post pics as my baby is getting fixed. We will back soon #teamshocker!!!!!!!”
660 Films captured the action on their GoPro as seen below. As you can see, the car begins to slide around and once the wobble intensifies, it’s all over from there. The team here at Speed Society is wishing the Shocker a speedy recovery. Most importantly, we’re glad that Kye was able to walk away from the whole thing!
