5 Most Awesome First Cars for Under $5000
Everybody remembers their first car, regardless of whether or not it’s a brand new ride or a used beater, we all have memories from that time in our life that our first car was a big part of. It’s not a decision to be made lightly, so BigKleib has his suggestions for 5 cars you can buy for $5,000 or less.
The video itself has some good information and details about each car on the list, so you’re gonna want to watch it, but we’ll walk through the 5 candidates here. Number five was actually a tie between two drastically different rides, the Ford Explorer and the 4th gen F-Body, though we can definitely see where both work well as first cars despite their obvious contrasts. Just ahead of those, the ubiquitous Fox Body Mustang. If you can find one in decent shape, they are very solid cars and a great platform to gradually build over time into a quick street/strip performer.

Checking in at #3, the Jeep Cherokee, which is a perfect first car because you have to try to hurt them. They’re built well and can handle the rigors of daily use for many years. Plus, as with the 4th Gen F-Body and Fox Body, there’s a huge aftermarket for them if you want to upgrade it over time. The next car on the list is BigKleib’s personal first car, a Pontiac Grand Prix GTP. With a decent aftermarket and respectable insurance rates thanks to the V6 powerplant, these cars are reliable and fun to drive, plus they look great with some tasteful mods. And finally the best first car under $5 grand, Mazda’s Miata. With plenty of options for upgrades and modifications and plenty of directions to take on looks and performance, plus that legendary Mazda reliability make the Miata a perfect beginner ride.
