Guy Puts a Tesla Motor in a Lotus Evora and Slaps it on the Dyno!
If there’s one thing that seems to be all the rage these days, it Tesla and all of the technology that the company is bringing to the market. It’s incredibly exciting to see just how these machines are changing the scope of the automobile, bringing all kinds of new technological advances to the table that many had never thought we would see in our lifetimes and others might have never even thought of in the first place. It was only a matter of time before other vehicle platforms started seeing “Tesla swaps,” just like you would swap some sort of high performance engine into another car.
This time, we take a look at a really unique motor swap as somebody took their Lotus Evora and crammed it full of electric goodness. Most of the time, when you see a swap like this, it will be some sort of high-performance power plant going into the car but this time, it’s something a little bit different, indeed. It’s going to be weird for whoever is a party to this car while it’s in motion as it moves along, not making a single sound while creating some serious torque. If one thing is for sure, it’s that something like this will probably stir the pot over in the Lotus community, making those purists grab their chests in fear of a heart attack.
Follow along with a video below to see exactly how this thing came together, detailing how all of the pieces were mounted in order to make the machine complete in such a way that wouldn’t be clunky or inhibit regular driving in any way. When you have a car this small, the weightlessness allows for you to have more liberty with an engine or motor that makes less power. Therefore, you have to think that, with all of the gobs of torque that an electric motor like this produces, that this thing is bound to be an absolute blast to get behind the wheel of.
