Paul Walker’s Daughter Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit With Porsche

As the anniversary of his death approaches, Paul Walker’s story continues to unfold as news has broken that his daughter, eighteen year old Meadow, has reached a settlement with Porsche in the wrongful death suit filed against the automaker.

The suit, which claimed  “Walker would still be alive if the company had installed proper safety features” in the Porsche Carrera GT, the vehicle Walker was riding in at the time of his death. Driven by experienced driver and friend Paul Rodas, the car slammed into a tree and exploded when the two were leaving an event in Santa Clarita, California. Rodas was also killed in the crash.

This is the second lawsuit won by the Fast ’n Furious franchise star’s daughter, who was also awarded $10.1 million from Rodas’ estate in another suit filed in 2015. In addition to the lawsuit settlements, Meadow was also handed the keys to her later father’s $25 million estate when he passed, making her worth at least $35 million even without the Porsche settlement.

Walker’s death shocked Hollywood, hitting his fellow Fast ’n Furious actors especially hard. Paul was around from the very beginning of the franchise and likely had the most screen time of any of the franchise stars. While the first film in the series will always be our sentimental favorite, there’s no denying it launched the franchise into a global phenomenon that continues to grow to this day thanks to a series of progressively over-the-top blockbusters.

The franchise has dealt with some growing pains, of course, as it’s added even more star power to the cast. The latest drama has stemmed from Dwayne Johnson purportedly getting his own spin off, which has deleted projection of the next film in the F&F series, causing tension between Johnson and the rest of the series cast.
