Doc Street Beast vs Petey Small Block at San Antonio Street Outlaws No Prep
Discovery Channel has taken the Street Outlaws Live show from Bristol to Memphis to Tucson and now to Texas, rolling into San Antonio to film their latest episode at San Antonio Raceway. With $40,000 on the line for the winner, some of the biggest names in the street racing and no prep worlds made the trip to the Lone Star State to take their shot at the huge payday.
Making the long haul all the way from New York, Petey Small Block brought his big tire Camaro to Texas to take on the heavy hitters in the no prep world, and he drew a pretty big name when he lined up with Street Outlaws star James “Doc” Love and the Street Beast Monte Carlo. However, anybody that knows Petey knows he doesn’t back down from any challenge and he went to the line ready to throw down with the Street Beast.
With the track still being unprepped from the Winter Meltdown event just a few weeks prior, the drivers both knew that had to lay down some fresh sticky of their own, so they take care that that with a pair of nice, smoky burnouts. They back up into their tracks and roll up to the beams, purging and clearing out the engines to get them ready to go to war. As soon as they bump into the stage beams, the tree drops and both cars leave hard, with Doc pulling out to the slightest of leads when things take a sketchy turn in Petey’s lane.
The Camaro loses traction and slides – dare I say it, gracefully – across the track into Doc’s lane. Petey does a masterful job of not panicking and just letting the car slide to a stop. Luckily Doc was on a decent run and was out of the way when Pete came into his lane, and the car slid to a halt without touching anything but the 330’ cone, which is made of foam just for this situation.
Petey climbed out of the car to make sure nothing was leaking from it before driving or being towed back to the pits, where his day would be over. At least he wasn’t loading the car into the trailer piece by piece, which certainly could have been the case if the track was a little sticker!
