This Driver Might Just be the Best Cheater in Racing History
For one reason or another, it seems like anywhere that there should so happen to be a rulebook, there’s also somebody who is looking to figure out a way to get around that rule book. Nobody likes a cheater, however, sometimes, a creative way of skirting the regulations in place might end up being pretty impressive if you’re not actually technically breaking a rule. Because of people who try and do things like this, there even have to be new rules put in place sometimes to prevent their creative way of working with some of the guidelines.
When it comes to racing, I’m sure that there’re many stories of people who have gotten around the rules in one way or another and, in this situation, we have a run in with the name “Smokey Yunick,” an individual that many might have considered to be the best cheater in racing history. While some of his methods are straight up deceptive, others are pretty creative and we would even venture to say some of the methods might have been a pretty good way to use intelligence to maximize his set up to the most of its ability.
If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to dial yourself into Smokey’s storied career, including how he might’ve done something like extending fuel lines to an absurd length to get extra mileage one the regulation sized gas tank might. On the flipside, some would argue that what he was up to was downright wrong.
After going inside of these mindbending ways to somehow get around the rule book, be sure to tell us what you think of these instances of going up against the rules and getting caught in the trickery. Some of the stories even have a Hollywood-like quality to them.
