The First Known YouTube Video of Big Chief Testing in the Crow is Major Nostalgia (2011)
If you’ve been tuned in since the debut of Street Outlaws back in 2013, you’ve probably noticed that there’s been a sizable shift in the landscape of the racers of the rides that are competing in the fierce drag racing scene that you’ll catch on Monday nights. Not only have drivers come and gone but also some of the vehicles that they are behind the wheel of have either been wrecked beyond repair or have changed to the point where we might not even recognize them as they’re currently a shell of the former selves. When you’re in this situation, taking a walk down memory can be a pretty cool experience to see just how far they’ve all come.
It’s crazy to think that just a month or two ago, the show had clocked over five years on air. I guess that, like they say, time flies when you’re having fun. Because we were thinking a little bit about the old days recently here at Speed Society HQ, we decided to take a look back and dig down into the depths of the internet to see what we could find with some of the shows competitors from back before the reality television cameras were rolling. As it turns out, the video that you see here is actually the oldest YouTube videos that we could possibly dredge up that featured Big Chief and the Crow in a form that almost seems surreal to have ever existed. We even get a special guest appearance from Daddy Dave as he helps to set the Crow right in the groove.
If you follow along down in the video below, you’ll be able to check out some test sessions from June 2011, two years before the television cameras even thought about coming around. If you’re wondering what racing in the 405 looked like before the television magic was sprinkled into the mix, this video serves as a reminder, just to give you a little bit of a taste of what exactly was going on before the entire world was watching to see what would come next out of those boys from OKC.
