GM Issues Recall Over Non-Compliant Seat Belts
When you buy a brand-new vehicle, you would like to think that it’s going to be one that has no issues. After all, that’s the reason why you shelled out the extra money to purchase something that has never been owned before. However, nobody is perfect and as such, manufacturers are sometimes forced to recall the products if they don’t live up to a certain standard.
This is for the better because it generally will help to bolster the car market as a whole, giving consumers some faith that they can trust that manufacturers will follow through with their promise to deliver a quality product. At times, these recalls can also mean a safer experience.
It has been reported this time, that General Motors is making a recall as they put out a product that they need to pay a little bit more attention to by bringing back in several 2018 and 2019 models of several different platforms over an issue that’s been going on with the rear seat belts and their locking mechanisms.
The Car Connection reported that “About 16,000 sedans, SUVs, and hatchbacks may have left its factories with rear seatbelt retractors that do not lock correctly when a child seat is installed” This includes “Certain 2018 and 2019 model year vehicles, including the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac CT6, and Chevrolet Volt. Since many of the vehicles are still in dealer inventory, GM issued a stop sale to its dealers for affected vehicles.”
At the end of the day, it’s definitely worth looking into if you own one of these platforms just to be safe instead of being sorry. When it really comes down to it, our safety is the most important thing at the end of the day and getting this fixed could be more than worth it in the long run.
