How Good Is A Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon If You Want To Beat It Off-Road?
When it comes to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV, otherwise known as the “G-Wagon,” you probably know of this vehicle as the ritzy Hollywood-driven SUV that will probably do nothing more than go to Starbucks and maybe shopping later on in the day. While that might sound harsh, I don’t think anybody is really denying that there aren’t very many people who are going to buy one of these vehicles for the purpose of off-road use. I mean, with a starting price in the six-figure range, there are certainly a lot of more economically viable options for a workhorse. Sure, maybe a couple of extravagantly rich folks will get their hands on one, brand-new, and beat the life out of them, however, the vast majority are probably going to stay on the pavement but how will these machines fair if they’re really put to the test in the elements?
This time, thanks to creator, JerryRigEverything, we get the chance to check out what exactly how these machines are going to do when they’re put through every last piece of abuse that they possibly can be. The main goal here was to see just how well these SUVs could actually deal with being beaten on and if Mercedes-Benz actually went the extra lengths to make sure that they were a capable off-road machine, even though the target demographic isn’t exactly one which would align with an off-road lifestyle.
If you follow along with the video below, you’ll be able to watch these G-Series SUVs as they’re put through a gamut of tasks unlike what they probably have ever faced before outside of the research and development from the folks at Mercedes. Will they be able to stand up to the tall task of toughing it out through the elements? Well, I guess that there’s one way to find out and that’s by checking out the tests for yourself.
