Jeff Gordon Inducted to the 2019 NASCAR Hall of Fame (Emotional Speech)

Many of the sport’s biggest fans would argue that, when it comes to the golden age of NASCAR, “24” would be one of the most iconic numbers that would be seen battling, door-to-door on the race track. In fact, the constant throwdowns between Jeff Gordon and Dale Earnhardt might have been what pushed the sport to its highest ratings and attendance of all time. Headlines surrounding the sport in the 90s and the first year of the 2000s, up until Earnhardt’s tragic death in 2001, would be rocked with murmurs of the two leaving it all out on the track. The crowds absolutely loved to watch the historic throwdown that would span years as horns were locked on the track on any given Sunday.

Jeff Gordon would remain a competitor on a NASCAR track up until 2016 and even at that point, there wasn’t much doubt about his eventual status as NASCAR royalty, well, at least in making it official. There isn’t much denying that Gordon’s name has to rank up there among the most important in the sport. As of yesterday, February 2, 2019, that status would be cemented in the history books forever as Jeff would be inducted in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

As Gordon would take the stage to accept his nod into the hall, as presented by his young children and Rick Hendrick alike, it would be an emotion-filled event. Even for fans of Gordon who thought they knew all about him, Jeff tells filled us in with some personal details as he shared not only the story of how his career got rolling but also some anecdotes that would tell about some of the ups and downs along the way.

The acceptance would follow a prolific career on the track as his journey was a busy one with 93 wins, 325 top-five finishes, and 477 top 10 finishes. All of this would be wrapped up with perhaps the most important statistic of all, the four championships that rank him amongst the elite of the elite.
