Vengeance Racing Built Naturally Aspirated C5 Z06 Rips 1/2 Mile at 199 MPH
Eddie Blackwell is a man on a mission.
With most cars that we find making heads turn at racing events, there is likely a power adder on board. After all, turbos and superchargers make the world of half-mile racing go round. However, among the crowd at most half-mile events that it attends, Blackwell’s C5 Corvette is often among the fastest competitors. This is all done with a naturally aspirated setup.
To date, Eddie and the team behind him at Vengeance Racing have laid down some incredible passes. The most potent pass just so happens to have come in at 199.7 mph. The personal best is definitely something to be proud of. However, for anyone who has ever chased a record, they know that this is as bittersweet as it gets. Being at the top of your game like this is something to definitely be proud of. However, knowing that the pass you just laid down was .3 mph away from the 200 mph mark is certainly frustrating.
As it stands, the car is currently the record holder in the half-mile as the fastest naturally aspirated LS-powered car. That’s done with 451 cubic inches of sequentially shifted power.
It seems like, with every outing, the car gets slightly faster. It’s been a pleasure to watch it creep up to the 200 mph mark. Furthermore, we wouldn’t be too shocked to see it become the first of its kind to crack that milestone in 2020.
By following along with the video below, we’re able to head to Texas to watch the car take on the half-mile. There’s just something that’s so incredibly special about spectating a machine like this take on the world, all without boost. If you want to talk about a challenge, the folks over at the Vengeance sure were willing to take on a battle with this type of application. To say that they’ve been coming through with flying colors would certainly be an understatement. Follow Vengeance Racing for more insane builds and custom performance packages!
