Stevie “Fast” Jackson Smashes Radial Tire Record While the World is in Quarantine
Again and again, Stevie “Fast” Jackson finds ways to surprise us. Back in the pre-quarantine real world, Jackson was known for his dominance in a variety of different drag racing formats. One of the formats that he has climbed to the highest height in would be that of Radial vs the World racing. That was the trim that his car was outfitted within this particular test session.
As it turns out, Jackson and company would not let quarantine bring them down. Instead, they would still get out to do a little bit of testing to make sure that their RvW setup was in top form. In order to stay in shape, if you will, it was off to Carolina Dragway, better known as the “House of Hook.”
These testing sessions are pretty important to dial in setup for the show. Just like an athlete has to keep pushing in the gym, drag racers need tons of testing time. After all, the field can be separated by just a couple of tenths. The gap between first and second place is often quicker than the blink of an eye. Therefore, making sure the car is fast and consistent is of utmost importance in this kind of racing.
Having either quickness or consistency without the other would simply defeat the purpose. Drivers aren’t going to be able to get this combination down without a ton of test passes. Every great drag racer will tell you that they’ve spent a lot of time making sure that their machine is in line and that they know how to drive it.
When most people go out to make test hits, it might not be pretty. After all, drivers and crews are trying out new things to attempt to push the limits. Therefore, there can be a lot of tire spin and passes that don’t make it all the way to the finish line. On the other hand, though, Stevie seems to put on a show everywhere he goes. Therefore, he took down the radial tire record yet again.
On one hand, we want to be surprised that someone actually managed to set a record during a nationwide quarantine. However, on the other hand, Jackson seems just like the guy who would do it!
