“Live P.D.” and “COPS” Television Shows Cancelled in the Midst of Protests & “Paw Patrol” Might be Next

It seems like every day in the current political environment, we have a vastly changing ecosystem.

For as simple as a concept as it is, “Live P.D.” has remained one of the highest-rated shows on basic cable. As the name insists, the episodes follow the police around different areas of the country on their duties. It really gives people insight as to what police officers go through on a regular basis.

However, in light of all the recent protests against police brutality, the long-running cable TV show has been canned. The decision was said to have been unanimous among A&E and MGM’s Big Fish Entertainment, the producers of the series.

In a quote obtained from Deadline, we learn of what the network had to say about it. “This is a critical time in our nation’s history and we have made the decision to cease production on Live PD,” the network said in a statement to Deadline. “Going forward, we will determine if there is a clear pathway to tell the stories of both the community and the police officers whose role it is to serve them. And with that, we will be meeting with community and civil rights leaders as well as police departments.”

In addition, we have seen other cancellations including that of the COPS TV show that has been on the air since 1989.

We wouldn’t be shocked if this was just the first couple of cancellations in the wake of recent political events. There have even been rumors linked to the children’s cartoon, Paw Patrol. Naturally, as a show for children, the cartoon shows police dogs in a positive nature. Apparently, some have found this to be upsetting. Welcome to 2020.

It’s difficult to tell if the calling for the cancellation of Paw Patrol is an attempt at satire or a real issue at this point. Only time will tell how this all pans out.
