Chevy C10 Sleeper Packs Turbo LS Monster Under the Hood (And it’s a Tow Rig, Too!)

Oh, the sleeper.

If there’s one thing that we absolutely love in the high-performance community, it’s a vehicle that doesn’t look the part. There’s something about those cars and trucks with a nice little patina that end up surprising us that really makes the hair on our necks stand on edge.

One second, we think that we’re looking at a rusty old pickup. The next, it’s spooling up and flying down the street while spilling tire smoke all over.

This time, that’s the exact phenomenon that we follow along with thanks to the AutotopiaLA YouTube channel. This time, Chevrolet is the variety on tap. On display, we find a 1973 Chevrolet C10 square body. Outside, things aren’t exactly perfect. The paint is peeling and there’s even primer in some spots along with a little bit of rust.

However, under the hood, it’s absolutely spotless. This is where we find the LS engine in the form of a 5.3L LM7. When combined with a 76mm Turbonetics turbo, the machine is able to put together 550 hp to the wheels. In the scheme of YouTube, it seems like everything on the web is making 1000 hp or more. However, it’s easy to forget that 500 hp is still moving out. We become a little bit desensitized with the help of the internet. However, this is more than enough sauce to send a chill down your spine.

Just remember. Most people don’t even know what 550 hp feels like.

By following along with the video below, we get to get up close and personal with the build to see what it’s all about. In addition, we get to go for a wild ride as well. At the end of the day, what we simply can’t help but love about this one is that everything just works. The combination comes together so perfectly without a hitch and really makes a solid foundation to provide a heck of a ride.

Last but not least, the truck has been built to be a little bit of fun. However, its main function is to serve as a tow rig for an old school Camaro! It doesn’t get much more versatile than that!
