Jeep Just Dropped a High Performance Wrangler in an Attempt to Stay Ahead of the Competition
One of the reasons that the Jeep Wrangler has become as popular as it has is because there really hasn’t been much competition. Don’t get us wrong. The Wrangler is a wonderful creation and obviously, those behind it have really hit the nail on the head in terms of creating a vehicle with longevity. However, when we go through the ranks of vehicles that could be direct competition for the model, there haven’t really been many that have ever caught on.
It seems like, if it lives up to the hype, though, the Ford Bronco might just be one of the first to really give the Wrangler a run for it’s money. With that, it seems like Jeep might just be taking notice and making a couple of improvements of their own.
One of the notable features on the options list with the Bronco is that there is no option for any sort of high-performance application. Some in the industry think that this sort of high-performance engine will come down the road at some point but as of now, it looks like it’s nowhere to be found.
Instead of just letting this segment go unanswered, the folks over at Jeep have decided to step in and put one of their successful power plants under the hood of the Wrangler to offer such a machine. In the same spirit as vehicles like the Ram TRX, the Wrangler will bring a V8 performance package to the dirt. In a recent post to Facebook, Jeep would show off the latest Wrangler, now boasting a 392 cubic inch V8.
Below, we get to see the 470 hp Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 in action. Normally, one of the big selling points for those who use the Wrangler for some sort of off-road capability is the lightweight nature of the machine when compared to others. It’ll be interesting to see how that lightweight nature and go-anywhere capability combines with 470 hp of V8 muscle.
