Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series Steals Nurburgring Production Car Record by Over a Second

When it comes to being the best all-around race track performer, there’s really only one place to go to prove a vehicle’s worth. Sure, holding records at any professional race track anywhere is impressive. However, the Nurburgring is definitely the granddaddy of them all.

The track provides all sorts of different challenges that truly put machines and drivers to the test. The technical nature of diverse turns really requires a stout combination to be able to conquer. However, if a car isn’t fast in a straight line, it’s going to struggle on the track as well as the nearly 13-mile course has plenty of sections to accommodate wide-open speed.

On November 17, we would see one of the most prestigious records in the production car market fall. The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series would take the top spot in terms of cars to lap the prestigious race track.

The previous record of 6:44.97 set by the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ would be pushed into the rearview by the Black Series. The new record stands over a second faster as the AMG GT Black Series managed a 6:43.616 lap.
