The Ultimate Luxury SUV Battle
If we’re being honest with ourselves, people who purchase vehicles like a new Tesla Model X, Mercedes-Benz G63, or BMW X5 aren’t all that likely to go off of the beaten path. In fact, it’s a pretty safe bet that less than 1% of these vehicles will ever touch dirt in their entire lifetime.
However, regardless of how they are likely to be used, it’ll be pretty interesting to see how they perform off-road anyway. A lot of the time, it’s not about being practical, it’s about having a little bit of fun.
While this information might not directly apply to people who purchase these things, there are some bits and pieces here that we can pick up that are rather useful. Maybe someone behind the wheel of one of these machines isn’t exactly going wheeling on the weekends. On the other hand, though, perhaps a demonstration like this might show us how some of these rides could perform in brutal snow conditions which do happen in many parts of the country regularly.
The idea here is simple. Each SUV in this demonstration, which range from the aforementioned models all the way to more common vehicles like the Nissan Murano, Volkswagen Touareg, and Toyota FJ cruiser, are put to the test with an off-road obstacle. The main goal is to conquer the climb which has a sizable set of bumps in the middle of it that are going to require a decent amount of suspension articulation.
Down in the video below, we get the chance to check out these models in action. While they might not encounter this sort of a challenge on a regular basis, this is just something that we had to see. At the end of the day, who isn’t wondering how a Tesla Model X would be able to perform off-road?
