The World’s Greatest Drag Race, Pickup Truck Style
What are the odds that somebody who purchases a pickup truck is ever going to get into a drag race? Well, unless such a vehicle is heavily modified or it’s something like the 700+ horsepower Ram 1500 TRX, the odds are probably not that high. However, that isn’t to say that we aren’t kind of curious about how such a race would go.
When we look at the most prominent pickup truck manufacturers in the country, we often compare them using a lot of the same recurring metrics. Perhaps, people look at how much a pickup can pull along on a trailer. Other times, perhaps fuel economy while towing is also important.
How fast one can go in a drag race definitely isn’t something that is commonly thought about in the consumer decision-making process with such models.
This time, though, that’s exactly what we take a look at as we join in with Edmunds as they take the liberty of comparing the most popular pickup trucks on the market. This particular video is technically a comparison but definitely one that’s quite an unlikely one.
On display this time, we have the pickup offerings from the big three. However, it’s noteworthy that the Ram TRX isn’t included here. If they incorporated that machine, this would definitely become quite an unfair race.
However, on display, we do find a gas-powered GMC Sierra, Ram 1500, and even Ford F-150 PowerBoost – Ford’s new hybrid offering. Which one of these machines is going to come out on top? It’s going to be a fun race to find out exactly that. For the slim slice of the pie of consumers that is looking for a regular pickup truck to perform well in a drag race or maybe those who just find this kind of comparison interesting, this one is for you!
