A Car Carrier Ship Loses Stability: Heroic Rescue Operation
When it comes to the fear factor involved with riding out on a ship at sea, that ship going down is pretty much the one and only thing that people onboard would tend to be worried about. The unknown that lies beneath in the depths of the ocean really puts you on edge about the possibilities that might arise should the boat start to act funny or should some outside factor come into play.
In this video, we check out a car carrier ship as it heads out to sea and loses its stability. Now, the ship doesn’t go down entirely, but floating on its side creates an equally dangerous situation for the salvage team to address as they have to go out there and attempt to pull the vessel back into port before addressing the problem.
It might have taken an entire team and a carefully calculated plan to make this January 2016 rescue mission a success, but within 24 hours, they were on the scene and not too long after that, we’re able to ride along with them as they show off bits and pieces of the very complex process that was involved in bringing this thing back to port so they could both try and save the contents of the boat and eliminate the chance for unnecessary environmental damage.
Check out the video below as this spectacular series of events all comes together in just the right way to bring this massive vessel back to dry land once again. As it turns out, it really isn’t even close to as simple as slapping a chain to this thing and towing it back into port. These guys have a rather large chunk of work cut out for them!
