Armageddon (Nitrous) vs. Savage (Turbo) at Sweet 16!!!
This weekend marked the first running of Duck X Productions’ innovative Sweet Sixteen Shootout. The unique format, which featured only two classes and limited spectator and media access which created an intimate, up-close-and-personal atmosphere for each of those individuals lucky enough to score a VIP pass. The main event was obviously the sixteen car Radial vs the World shootout, but as always, the no time shootout was every bit as wild and entertaining as the headliners.
Justin “Little Country” Swanstrom and his family-owned nitrous injected Mustang known as Armageddon was one of the big name cars in the shootout and came to put on a show for the fans at the track and those watching on the Pay Per View live feed. As the winner of the most recent no time shootout at a Duck X Promotions event, Phill Bohley came in as an obvious favorite to take home the winner’s share of the purse again in his ProLine Racing Engines-powered twin-turbo Mustang known as Savage.
Anybody who has attended a no time/grudge style shootout knows a big part of the draw outside of the shootout itself is the grudge races that take place during time trials, since there is no actual qualifying taking place. One of the biggest call outs of this weekend was between the two cars mentioned here, Savage and Armageddon! With a big fat stack of cash riding on the outcome, the ages old nitrous vs turbo battle would unfold again at South Georgia Motorsports Park.
As you will see in the video from our partner Hans at Free Life Films, this was a great race for the first couple of seconds. However, as it has been known to do, Armageddon hiked the nose up in the air and Justin had to pedal the throttle to keep the car off the back bumper. With a car like Savage in the other lane, that was all it took to open the door and Bohley waltzed right through it and took home the win, the bragging rights and most importantly, the CASH!
