Badass Cockpit Angle of Clay Millican Stomping on that Loud Pedal!

NHRA Top Fuel pilot and Speed Society Racing team driver Clay Millican has provided fans with plenty to talk about thus far in 2017. With a pair of number one qualifying efforts in Houston and Charlotte and consistent late-round finishes, Millican had kept himself and his Great Clips/Parts Plus fueler squarely in the thick of the championship hunt, currently sitting in the #6 spot as the season closes it’s first 1/3rd of the schedule. Coming off a strong semi-final showing, Millican is looking forward to the tour’s swing through the northeast.

The next races on the schedule are typically among the quickest each season, thanks to the cooler temps in the New England region. Stops in Epping, New Hampshire for the New England Nationals and Old Bridge Township, New Jersey for the Summernationals precede a trip to Bristol, Tennessee for the Thunder Valley Nationals, after which the teams will head back toward the center of the country.

At last weekend’s Heartland Nationals, Clay strapped an action camera in a pretty badass location to share with the world what exactly he does as his 11,000 horsepower missile-on-wheels blitzes the 1,000 foot drag strip. As the clip starts, we see Clay strapped into his hotrod as he prepares to stage for a run. Millican pulls the handle on the right to send the fuel system into “go mode”, then carefully bumps into the stage beams. The tree drops and Clay pulls his trademark move and stomps on that loud pedal, sending him and the car hurtling toward the finish line. In just over three and a half seconds, you can see the scoreboards streak by as the trip to 320+ MPH ends as quickly as it began. Millican dumps the chutes and jumps on the brakes to bring the David Grubnic-tuned machine to a safe stop. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the season holds for Millican and his crew as they ride this wave of solid and consistent performances.
